She did not confide any fear of Adam to her sister or to her best friend; she slept with her bedroom door unlocked and she kept guns in the house where she lived with Adam. His mother told friends her son started getting upset at middle school because of frequent classroom changes during the day. The movement and noise was too stimulating and made him anxious. At one point his anxiety was so intense, his mother took him to the emergency room at Danbury Hospital. In April , she moved him to a new school, St.
Tiny House Solar
We absolutely love living in a solar powered RV. But as awesome as solar can be, it is NOT for everyone. A lot of RVers seem to think that a few hundred watts of solar will magically give them absolute electrical independence even running air conditioners! But the truth is — both extremes can be deluded about the realities of solar. We find relatively few RVers have actually taken the time to think through the real benefits, costs, and cost savings associated with going solar to decide if investing in a solar system actually makes sense.
Can RVers use a 50Amp/30Amp adapter plug with their 50Amp Surge Guard* surge protector and hook up to a 30Amp power pedestal? Yes, however, their RV is wired with two 50Amp/V circuits for a total of Amps while the 30Amp power pedestal will only provide a total of 30Amps of power.

The answers to these questions, in order, are possibly, maybe and maybe, and the reason is that taking this step will only work under the right circumstances and in appropriate locations. For some, the way out is to buy a recreational vehicle and place it on some land they already own or may want to purchase.
It is important to take great care when taking this step because most cities do not allow full time motor home or travel trailer living on property located within city limits. In fact, many do not even allow people to park their vacant rigs beside their homes! I know of one area in Nevada that does not allow people to live this way anywhere within its limits; no exceptions! If you are bound and determined to fulfill this plan, you will most likely will have to consider moving to an area that is outside of town.

I don’t know how big my well pump is. It was installed about 10 years ago, which was 7 years before I purchased the house. It is over feet in the ground and I have no idea how to find out how big it is. Suggestions on solving this mystery? What I didn’t mention is that there is currently a power kill switch between the well pressure tank and the circuit breaker its on the wall above the pressure tank.
In the spring I plan to have a professional electrician install a power transfer switch and panel.

I have two or more tickets. When I go to edit the name on one of those tickets, it changes both tickets.
I installed septic systems for quite a few years and have seen some weird things people have done with their systems. Installing an RV sewer dump into a home septic system is very easy. Remember sewer lines should not have quick drops because the water will leave the solids if there are any. Large elevation changes should be made with 90 degree drops. One inch of drop in a one hundred foot line is almost overkill, we always tried for no more than a half inch drop per hundred foot, but that is hard to do using plastic line.
Ideally the solids are kept with the liquid and casually float to the septic tank entrance.
I have been taking my batteries (volt flood) into the house every winter. If a fully charged battery will not freeze until minus 92F, is it necessary for me to take the battery into the house, if the solar panel keeps it charged on the trailer.
Living in an RV Living in an RV is not difficult, but you do need to do some things differently than if you were at home. If you are an extended traveler and will be gone from your home base for two or three months, then there are additional things that you must consider and take into account before you depart. And, finally, if you are going to be a full-timer, then you have a long list of considerations and actions to take before you sell your house and move into a motorhome or 5er.
For weekend campers and extended travelers, the biggest headache is loading and unloading the RV—with your clothes, personal items, and food. After your first few trips out in your RV, you will soon discover that you usually pack far too many clothes from your wardrobe. You will find that you use a few clothes frequently, but seldom use most items.
Many people find it easier, food wise, to prepare many meals, especially dinners, ahead of time, freeze them, and then only defrost and warm them up when they are camping. Be a bit cautious, though, since RV refrigerators and especially freezers are not as roomy as what you are accustomed to at home. Never leave your home base without having at least some fresh water in your tank.
Most people ask if I can explain the RV electrical system in simple to understand terms. The electrical system in your RV can seem complex and confusing until you have a basic understanding of how it works. Your RV actually has three separate electrical systems. We are primarily concerned with the volt DC and volt AC coach systems. The majority of campgrounds you go to will provide you with an external volt electric source to plug into. Your RV has a heavy-duty power cord that is normally about 25 feet long.

Your 12 volt systems are run by your RV batteries. Some might say, Wait, I’ve been told there are actually three electrical systems, and yes, that could also be true by dividing your 12 volt systems into two categories: For simplicity and for our purposes of RV practicality, we will ignore the automotive systems in this article because they are very closely similar to the automotive systems found in a car. Okay, let’s dive right in.
AC stands for alternating current, referring to an electrical charge that changes direction. DC, on the other hand, stands for direct current and involves a flow of charge in only one direction. In today’s RVs everything relies on volt batteries to function–everything from the roof air conditioner to the refrigerator.

plug the RV into a 15 or amp outlet you severely limit what you can operate in the RV. In this situation you should only use the appliances or electronic equipment that are absolutely necessary.
Contact Author Source Many RVs and camper trailers use a power converter to operate the lights, refrigerator, vent fans, and perhaps the thermostat on the heating system. The converter uses the volt AC power from the local power source and transforms it into the volt DC these items require. This article is intended to help you troubleshoot many converter problems and to repair or replace the unit if need be.
Since there are different makes, types, and sizes of converters, this article will deal with problems common to most models. Although electrical knowledge is helpful, it is not necessary in order to be able to check the power converter or to repair or replace it. For more basic information on how the electrical system on your RV works, see this article. Always unplug the RV from the volt power supply before attempting to repair any electrical components of the power converter unit.
Classic Travel Trailers Serro Scotty Sportsman Source Airstream Globetrotter Source Types of Converter Problems In most cases, a malfunctioning converter will just cease to function with the result being the total loss of power to any volt DC fixtures or controls. In other cases, the converter will produce power, but not enough to run the volt DC electrical system. But until the onboard volt batteries are exhausted of their charge, the problems will not become apparent.
The power converter is supposed to maintain a constant charge on these batteries, supplying variable voltage depending on the amount being drawn from the volt DC system. Remember that the onboard batteries must be in good shape and able to hold a full charge.

Several times we even took up the offers of strangers to stay in their driveways. I like to joke that we are the best kind of house guests — the kind who bring their own house with them! Driveways are not campgrounds, and as such require a bit of extra planning and knowledge for successful RV parking.
Know the rules Sigh…like life, driveway camping is often dictated by a set of rules. Rules imposed by communities and homeowners associations that are increasingly unfriendly to RVs.

Polk Somebody recently asked me what I enjoyed the most about RVing. It didn’t take long for me to respond that it was the people you meet at the campground. I don’t know of anywhere else that you can meet complete strangers and within a couple of hours feel as if you’ve known them forever. People at campgrounds are some of the friendliest most helpful people you will ever meet. I have seen it time and again when a camper pulls in and they are having problems with something and their next door neighbor, whom they never met, is right there to assist them.
I have also observed and assisted several campers who were new to RVing and not really sure how to set their unit up when they arrive at the campground. While talking to these new Rvers it came up more than once how they wished that they had a checklist to follow to make things easier. However most RVs do have many things in common and that is what we will concentrate on.
The purpose of this checklist is to provide a basic system of what to do when you arrive at your site. Use only the items that apply to your RV and feel free to tailor the list to your needs. Pop Ups see separate checklist If you are in a motor home and are towing a vehicle you may want to disconnect the vehicle in the campground registration parking lot before going to your site.
Have someone drive the vehicle in front of you to assist in locating your site. Conduct a site survey. Identify where all campground connections are and where you want the RV located to have access to all connections.
